Here is a quick update.
We shipped out the last of the international paperback copies of Short Things yesterday, and we are working on shipping out any U.S. copies that have been reported as not received. Our office has been all hands on deck to get everything boxed and shipped out.
The Short Things hardcover was just picked up from the printer and the shipping of those copies has begun. It will take a couple of weeks for all of them to be mailed out.
Also about to ship are the bookmarks, bookplates, and the special edition books. We believe we have found the right place to produce the boxes for us, so you will be getting something great.
For those of you who missed out on getting the book through the Kickstarter, you can now pick it up here, and you can get the audio book read by Yuri Lowenthal if you don't already have it.
And, we have gotten press about the books and the Film project in
Yahoo
Rotten Tomatoes
Bloody Disqusting
Vulture
Newsweek
Comettv.com
Hope you had a great weekend and are doing well.
Thank you for being here.

It's official! There will be a new Thing movie!

Executive Producer Alan Donnes has posted this on Facebook:
It's OFFICIAL! I received my signed contract and first check! I am Executive Producing a remake of THE THING but with additional chapters of John Campbell's groundbreaking novel, Frozen Hell, that had been lost for decades.
Now, for the first time ever, Campbell's full vision will be realized on the big screen. The new film will include the very best of RKO's THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, John Carpenter's classic THE THING and both books, Frozen Hell and Who Goes There?
---------------------
He doesn't say it, but movie will be from Universal and Blumhouse. Everyone is super excited about it, and it's being fast-tracked.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what's going on with Who Goes There?, Frozen Hell, and The Thing in Hollywood. I can't talk about the rest yet, but it's very exciting -- and if all goes as planned, the Thing will be alive and well for quite a while.
--------------------
Thanks for all the well-wishes following my mother's death. I will be back at work on the Kickstarter campaign on Wednesday, and I look forward to getting the last few items off to everyone at that time.
The hardcover Short Things is done, according to the printer, so that should begin shipping out probably next week.

Things great and small

I hope you guys had a great weekend and you're doing well. Here are some quick updates for you.
The bookmarks, bookplate, and boxed collectors edition of Frozen Hell have not been sent out yet. The boxed collector's edition was delayed because the prototype box design we were sent by the factory did not meet our standards for quality. We want the collector's edition to be a great piece for you to enjoy, so we are currently deciding on an alternative manufacturer who can produce the box with the level of quality required.
Short Things is still in the process of being shipped. The bookmarks and bookplates will be shipped out next.
Also, some sad news. John's mother has just died, suddenly and unexpectedly. He and his family are still dealing with the shock and he is taking a short leave of absence from the office to sort things out. Even though John is the head of the company, the quality and success of the Frozen Hell project are very important to him and he has been overseeing the production of the book (along with Short Things and the various other rewards) personally rather than delegating to another editor. Because of this, there will likely be a delay in replying to messages and questions about Frozen Hell, and John asks that you hold off messaging him for the next two weeks. We thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time for the family.
Now that a bunch of you have gotten Short Things, and hopefully had time to read it, please tell us in the comments which were you favorite stories. Did you guys like the art? What was your favorite piece?

Hello everyone, we hope you had a great holiday and an amazing New Years! Everyone should have received their ebook editions of Short Things, and the paperback editions are making their way out via the mail. We love seeing photos of the books out in the wild, so if you feel like it, do post pictures of your copies and hashtag it #wildsidepress and #frozenhell. The hardcover edition of Short Things is still being finished with the printer, so it hasn't been sent out yet. We want to make sure each edition of the book is the best it can be. We will make an announcement soon, once the hardcover editions are ready to be mailed so you'll know when to expect them.
Speaking of Short Things, since you've had the chance to read the ebook and paperback editions, let us know in the comments which were your favorite stories.

Have a great week!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Great news! The ebook of Short Things has been added to your digital locker at BackerKit. Please log in to backerkit.com to retrieve it!
If you don't see it immediately, please give it a few minutes and try again. They are distributing almost 5,000 copies and I don't know how long it will take.
The paperbacks are being printed today. The hardcovers will take 8-10 more days. Shipping should begin next week.
If you pledged for the bookmark and bookplate, they will be going out either with the copies of Short Things for international customers (I'm shipping those myself to make sure they actually get mailed in a timely manner), or shortly after for U.S. customers.
The 26-copy limited edition is still not ready yet, but I'm hoping another month will do it. AND it will include a custom Frozen Hell pin, as a thank-you for your patience.
"THE THING" NEWSLETTER IS COMING!
There is going to be a big announcement about new projects for The Thing expanded universe very shortly. (No I'm not going to give any hints, but I think some of them are very exciting.) I am going to set up a mailing list for news of various projects related to "Who Goes There?" and "The Thing" in games, books, and comics (and movies and TV, if/when), and invite everyone here to join in the next week or two, so everyone interested can hear about upcoming projects as they happen. Keep an eye out for the announcement.
AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR...
Not really, but I make my living publishing books through Wildside Press. We're having a big Halloween sale (25% off anything, using coupon code HALLOWEEN2019.) Minimum purchase $20. Please stop by Wildside Press and check it out! The web site is wildsidepress.com .
